Introduction
Rapidly developing technologies such as chip array-based genotyping platforms have facilitated recent large-scale interrogation of the human genome. Many of these investigations have been successful in identifying specific single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with complex disorders [1], [2], but these investigations cannot identify all forms of genetic variation because they focus on the common SNPs [1]. The availability of densely spaced SNPs generated by genome-wide studies has also enabled the investigation of genome structural variations, such as copy number variants (CNVs).
