Abstract

[6] The extravasated fluid is generally reabsorbed within 12 h yet high pump pressure, obesity, lateral decubitus position, prolonged duration of procedure, arthroscopy into subacromial space and glenohumeral capsular surgical rent are recognised risk factors for a possible inadvertent neck and upper chest soft-tissue oedema. [...]what may seem as a common finding to a surgeon at the end of a regular shoulder arthroscopic procedure externally may have dire anaesthetic implications for us.
