Abstract

This article is the product of a reection on the role of social work in the process of environmental licensing, specically in the eld of Environmental Impact Assessment. It addresses the current situation of the energy and mining sector and the social and environmental conicts deriving from the extractivist model prevailing in the country. Furthermore, it discusses the legislation regarding Environmental Impact Assessment and the constitutional regulation of citizen participation in decision-making with respect to mining projects. This scenario requires professionals with knowledge of the subject, as well as research projects with impact on the sector.
