Abstract
en los últimos años, los términos Lean Thinking y Kaizen han cobrado gran importancia en la gestión operacional y estratégica de las organizaciones de este nuevo siglo. dicha relevancia se ha centrado en la búsqueda constante por reducir los costos operativos mejorando con ello la productividad y la competitividad de las organizaciones multinacionales. Por ello, parte de la pregunta de investigación que rige este artículo es: ¿Cómo se presenta la implementación del Kaizen en un contexto organizacional como es una empresa multinacional en méxico? el propósito del estudio es, por tanto, explorar empíricamente la implementación del Kaizen en algunas organizaciones multinacionales de méxico, con el fin de analizarlas y compararlas con los esquemas teóricos del tema. la investigación es de corte cualitativo siguiendo la estrategia de múltiples casos de estudio. se seleccionaron dos empresas multinacionales ubicadas en la zona industrial de toluca del estado de méxico, méxico. los resultados demuestran, con base en la evidencia empírica, que existe una brecha entre los esquemas teóricos del Kaizen y la realidad práctica estudiada en los dos casos de estudios seleccionados. Partiendo de estos resultados del estudio exploratorio fue posible proponer cuatro proposiciones teóricas que condensan el presente trabajo de investigación. este artículo, a pesar de ser de carácter exploratorio, busca generar un aporte teórico de lo que ocurre en las empresas multinacionales ubicadas en méxico en materia de la implementación de una técnica gerencial japonesa como el Kaizen en un contexto latinoamericano. /
In recent years, the terms Lean Thinking and Kaizen have gained importance in operational and strategic management of organizations of this new century. That relevance has focused on the constant effort to reduce operational costs while improving the productivity and competitiveness of multinational organizations. Therefore, part of the research question governing this article is: What happens to Kaizen implementation in an organizational context such as a multinational company in Mexico? The purpose of this study is therefore to empirically explore Kaizen implementation in certain multinational organizations in Mexico in order to analyze and compare them with the theoretical systems in that field. The research is of a qualitative nature, in accordance with the strategy of multiple case studies; two multinational companies located in the industrial zone of Toluca in the State of Mexico were chosen. The results show that, based on the empirical evidence, there is a gap between the theoretical systems of Kaizen and the practical reality studied in the two selected case studies. Based on the results from the exploratory study, it was possible to propose four theoretical propositions that condense our research work. This article, despite being of an exploratory nature, aims to generate a theoretical contribution regarding what happens in multinational companies located in Mexico in terms of the implementation of a Japanese managerial technique such as Kaizen in a Latin American context.
