In the paper Floating stones off El Hierro, Canary Islands: xenoliths of pre-island sedimentary origin in the early products of the October 2011 eruption by V. R. Troll et al. (Solid Earth, 3, 97110, 2012) an error occurred in the nal paper. There is an error in footnote number 8 to Table 3.

The footnote currently reads as follows:

8 Contaminated trachytic rind material of restingolite from El Hierro. Data obtained by XRF at the Univeristy of Bremen, Germany.

The corrected footnote should read:

8 Trachyte lava from the El Golfo cliff, El Hierro. Data obtained by XRF at IFM-GEOMAR, Germany.
