Abstract

Motor vehicle exhaust emissions are ubiquitous, with exposure occurring through indoor and outdoor air, as well as in many occupational settings. An estimated 781,000 workers (92% of employed males), or 4.6 % of the working Canadian population, are exposed to diesel engine exhaust [1, 2]. The two largest exposed occupational groups are truck drivers and heavy equipment operators [1, 2].
