Abstract

Tourism for persons with disabilities is a little worked-on field in scientific journals on tourism published in Ibero-America. Apart from the articles being scarce on the subject, there is not a consensus in terms of approaching it. This is due to the fact than the concepts of disability, accessibility, and tourism have more discrepancies than agreements. The objective of this work is to categorize articles on tourism for persons with disabilities published in scientific journals of tourism in Ibero-America depending on the interpretations of disability and accessibility. The method of content analysis was used. 34 journals were revised, 20 of which published articles related to the subject. 43 texts were analyzed in total. The results of the categorization showed a dominance of inquiries coming from Brazilian universities and, three main patterns followed by the authors in their articles: a) attitudes -hospitality-social inclusion; judicial framework-legal obligation; and business opportunity.
