Abstract

This paper studies the problem of productive development managemcnt in four small ru­ral areas located in two different rural sub­regions of the departament of Antioquia, Colombia. The question is studied under the contet of productive rcstructuring and state decentralisation. Based on issues provided by the theory of local productive systems, a comparison is made between two identified local development modcls, giving a special attention to the institutional aspects and showing perspectives and limits, difficulties and deficiencies of public admistration and other social agents in managing productive changes that are happening in the specialised region concerning farming activities
