US12015840B2: A camera system and method for controlling same, including capturing images of surroundings of a vehicle for a driver assistance system thereof. The camera system includes a first rolling shutter camera having a first aperture angle, a second rolling shutter camera having a second aperture angle, and control electronics. The first and second cameras are suitable for generating wide-angle and tele camera images, respectively. The first aperture angle is greater than the second aperture angle. The two cameras are designed such that both camera images have an overlap region. The control electronics synchronizes the two cameras. The geometric arrangement of the two cameras with respect to one another, and the position of the overlap region in the wide-angle image and in the tele camera image, are determined by continuous estimation. The stored geometric arrangement and position are taken into consideration during synchronization of the first and second cameras.
Patent Publication 2: (Publication Date: May 29, 2024)
GB2624651A: The invention relates to a method for determining camera pose information. A target arranged in a horizontal plane is provided, wherein the target plate comprises a frame shape and a plurality of marker shapes arranged within the border. An image is obtained by a camera, wherein the target is within the field of view of the image. An imaged target is localized within the image and imaged marker shapes that are arranged within an imaged frame shape of the imaged target chart are extracted. The number of extracted imaged marker shapes is counted and it is determined whether it is equal to the number of marker shapes within the frame shape . In response to determining that the two quantities are equal, centroids of each of the imaged marker shapes are computed and the camera pose information is determined based on the computed centroids. The markers may be circles. SIFT, SURF, ORB or Otsu's method may be employed. Centroid distances may be computed with the gradient descent method. The camera may be on a vehicle.
