Abstract

According to Alsyouf [11], the increased importance of maintenance activities is due to their impact on system availability, performance efficiency, product quality, etc. According to this maintenance policy, preventive maintenance activities are supposed to be able to restore the machine to be “as good as new”. Initialize x with a random position in the search space. [...]a termination criterion is met (e.g., number of iterations performed, or adequate fitness reached), repeat the following: − Sample a new position xk from the hypersphere of a given radius surrounding the current position x. − If f(xk) < f(x), then move to the new position by setting x = xk. ● Numerical Results When we apply the random search method to the numerical example, we obtain the following results: ✓ Total Cost = 386,743.62 mu. ✓ Optimal production plan (see Table 7). ✓ Optimal number of preventive maintenance actions = N* = 2. [...]the management of product returns, often involving a high degree of uncertainty in terms of the return period and quantity of returned products, can be a competitive differentiator [45].
