Abstract

Both CE and CPD contribute to lifelong learning, which is essential throughout the life of any professional, ensuring they are up-to-date with current practices, including skills and knowledge. [...]both CE and CPD should focus on health priorities and needs identified at individual, organization or national levels, as a quality assurance measure [11]. [...]participation in mandatory lifelong learning activities should deliver a quality assurance that knowledge, skills, and behaviors are being maintained to demonstrate competence [8,9]. [...]including CPD as part of CE provision will aid the movement towards a learner-led, needs-based model, rather than a time-based model motivated by providers [9]. To our knowledge, there is no published systematic review of peer reviewed research evaluating the various models used or the format of CE and CPD interventions globally.
