Abstract

[...]they analyzed each lipid trait separately rather than take advantage of multivariable methods to consider lipid traits together along with additional, potentially confounding causal risk factors. [...]the authors did not quantitatively assess heterogeneity to determine whether the observed lipid associations were statistically different across BC subtypes. [...]an approach obviates the need to remove pleiotropic variants and the loss of statistical power that results from this removal. [...]an approach that considers the effects of genetic variants on known risk factors for BC, such as body mass index (BMI) and age at menarche [14–20], could increase power.
