Although fever and respiratory symptoms are the main clinical manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a non-negligible number of patients present with gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms with diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, often in the prodromal period of the disease (1).
