Abstract

In the present study, GeOx-coated graphitic carbon composites were synthesized by coating graphitic carbon with GeOx through chemical reduction method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the composites, while galvanostatic charge/discharge and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were carried out to measure their electrochemical performance as an anode material for Li-ion batteries. The experimental results indicated that the GeOx-coated graphitic carbon composites show initial reversible capacity of 465.6 mAh g−1. After 30 cycles, the electrode capacity was still maintained at 437.6 mAh g−1, and the capacity retention is 93.98%.
