Abstract

The article investigates the software and hardware system of tactile vision. Which will allow visually impaired people to navigate in around environment. The system has to base on a near-infrared active scanning optical module and information tactile matrix. The optical module receives depth profiles, and then a computer performs statistical processing and transmits the result to a tactile matrix, which make a user feel distance and direction to the obstacles. The system will operate a frequency of 30fps, in real time, with a scan distance of 4-5 meters.
