Abstract

In this article, the Deleuzean concept of fold will function as an articulator between the following works : « Sermäo da Sexagésima » (1655), written by Antonio Vieira, relevant portuguese jesuit of seventeenth century, and the prose-poem Galáxias (1984), by Haroldo de Campos, contemporary Brazilian poet and critic. The starting point focuses on the volutes in Vieira's sermon, enphasizing the continuous movements between finite and infinite plans that constitute the allegoric fabric of his sermons. Finally, we will analyse the « babelbaroque » configuration of Haroldo de Campos's galactic labyrinth, his singular art of folding and unfonding litterary signs in order to compose the different voices and velocities in his text.
