Abstract
The article considers the theoretical and methodological foundations of recreational nature management as a field of activity and scientific direction. The necessity of transition to systems of more sustainable (balanced) mountain nature management is substantiated. The regions of the North-Eastern Caucasus have been studied in the context of the development of recreational nature management. Favorable prerequisites for expanding the existing sanatorium-resort database of regions, as well as the construction of innovative recreational facilities have been identified. Taking into account the vulnerability and uniqueness of mountain ecosystems, it is recommended to give priority to sparing types of recreation.
