Abstract

Longitudinal studies allow to access the review of causal hypotheses directly. It means that they make possible causal relation between the order of impacts (i.e. life events, educational effects, etc.) and the consequences that then occur. Long-term data storage has specific requirements for software and methods of data storage and conversion. The paper introduces criteria for evaluating software tools in the context of their application in longitudinal studies in psychology. The study is devoted to the analysis of popular tools of psychological research based on the criteria, which were introduced.
