Abstract
This paper diagnoses the quality of education of a public university technical and technological institution (ITTU) in Colombia. Its methodology is documentary, analytical and correlational. Organizational diagnosis is applied to find the causes of problems and offer solutions according to them, based on weaknesses, opportunities, strengths and threats. The approach of grounded theory, allowed to identify in the literature on the subject, the relevant variables that explain the problematic object of study, establishing the cause-effect relationships between these variables. The variables taken into account to study quality are: context and financing; techno-education in the new economy; knowledge society and fourth industrial revolution; research; results of the Saber Pro tests and employability of the graduates. The results of the work allow us to conclude that the fragile financial situation has led to sub-optimal levels of investment by ITTU, which undermine the quality and training in digital skills. Performance in research and employability has been good; however, the challenge of improving quality with high-impact results and strengthening the skills of graduates persists, which is evidenced in the results of the Saber Pro tests.
