Abstract

Ensefalit, Akut Böbrek Yetmezliǧi, Asiklovir, MRG Abstract Introduction: Herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSVE) is the most common cause of infectious encephalitis, and delay in diagnosis and treatment is associated with poor prognosis. Methods: Demographic and clinical data of patients who admitted to our hospital with acute confusional state and started to receive empirical IV acyclovir treatment with a preliminary diagnosis of viral encephalitis were retrospectively analyzed. The patients' neurological examination, cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and electroencephalography (EEG) findings and acyclovir treatment durations were recorded. Presence of hypertension increased the development of AKI (p=0.01).
