Abstract

Transparent non-cubic hexagonal fluorapatite (Ca10(PO4)5F2: FAP) ceramics with an average grain size of approximately 100 nm are fabricated. The laser operation with slope efficiency over 8% was achieved from AR-coated Yb:FAP ceramics.
