Abstract

While this use of multiple medications is necessary for effective treatment, it can lead to problems such as side effects, drug interactions, and overall medication load [15], making daily life more difficult for patients in terms of medication adherence, management, and travel [12], thereby increasing the burden on patients [15]. The role of psychosocial factors in management and treatment is now widely accepted, and, as a result, medicine has shifted from a purely biological perspective on causation and management to a more biopsychosocial model of disease and care [19]. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, no studies have been conducted on medication burden in chronic patients in Vietnam. [...]this study was conducted to explore the psychosocial factors associated with medication burden among patients with Type 2 diabetes in Vietnam. 2. The first section included general demographic information such as age (years), sex, education level, marital status, employment status, number of family members, and health characteristics such as number of prescribed medications, duration of diabetes (years), and comorbid conditions.
