Violência contra a mulher e adoecimento mental: Percepções e práticas de profissionais de saúde em um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial

Abstract

A violência contra a mulher, uma das expressões da violência de gênero, reconhecida como problema de saúde pública, está muito presente na realidade brasileira e afeta sobremaneira a saúde mental e física das vítimas. Há lacuna quanto à investigação da temática no campo da saúde mental. O presente estudo objetivou compreender as percepções e práticas de profissionais de um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial (CAPS) diante da violência contra a mulher, através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas com profissionais de diferentes áreas (n=10). As narrativas foram classificadas em 4 eixos temáticos: Percepções e conceituações sobre o tema; relação entre violência contra a mulher e saúde mental; as intervenções profissionais e, por fim, as narrativas sobre o papel das políticas públicas, além dos apontamentos sobre os desafios atuais. Analisou-se que há um distanciamento entre as percepções e as ações realizadas, e que há muitos desafios ainda quanto ao trato dessa temática, entre eles a falta de estrutura social e política e a falta de capacitação destes profissionais.

Violence against women is one of the manifestations of gender violence and it is still very present in the Brazilian society. It affects the mental and physical health of the victims and it is recognized as a public health issue. There is a gap in the subject related to mental health, thus, the present study aims to understand the perceptions and practices of professionals from a Psychosocial Care Center (Centro de Atenção Psicossocial, CAPS) regarding the violence against women, through semi-structured interviews with specialists from different areas (n = 10). The narratives were classified into four thematic axes: the perceptions about the subject; the relation between violence against women and mental health; the professional interventions; and, finally, the public policies and current challenges. It was concluded that there is a gap between the perceptions and the actions carried out by healthcare specialists. Moreover, there are still many challenges regarding the treatment of this issue, as the lack of social policies and training of these professionals.
