Abstract

[...] catheter-insertion congruent analgesia resulted in optimal postoperative epidural analgesia by infusing analgesic agents to the appropriate incisional dermatomes, providing superior analgesia, minimizing side effects and decreasing morbidity. [...] adequate analgesia in the postoperative period could safeguard against pain-associated diaphragmatic splinting and poor respiratory efforts, resulting in early and effective participation of the patient in pulmonary physiotherapy. [...] we described the successful use of thoracic epidural technique for the intraoperative pain management as well as continous postoperative analgesia in an achondroplastic patient following unilateral nephrectomy under general anesthesia.
