Introduction
According to information that was recently released by the U. S. Census Bureau, the population of Arkansas increased by 7.3 percent from 1990 to 1997. During this period, the total population grew by 172,195 people - from 2,350,624 to 2,522,819 (see Table 1). Of this growth, 114,410 or 66.4 percent, came from 10 of the 12 counties that are in Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs).
Changes in Population in Arkansas MSA Counties
