Cascade Section
The Cascade Section met Nov. 8 at the University Place Conference Center in downtown Portland. The program speakers included Patti Drewett and Sarah Bailey of CH2M HILL. They showed some of the latest features available in CPM scheduling software. They showed Primavera P6, Primavera P6 Web Access, and Microsoft Project 2007 server. A live demo hands on session followed their presentations.
The Cascade section's Nob. 8 meeting was on new advances in CPM scheduling software. Sarah Baily, above left, and Patti Drewett, above center, presented the program and are shown with Blake Marchard, PSP, President of the Cascade Section.
Central Savannah River Area Section
The CSRA Section of AACE International participated at the recent CSRA College Night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center, Augusta, Georgia. In addition to sponsoring the AACE International booth, the Section contributed $250 toward the event scholarship fund. The CSRA Section also sponsored an essay contest for high school seniors and juniors. The Section will award $50 each for up to five essays with the theme of, "What is Cost Engineering?" The purpose of the essay is to introduce high school seniors and juniors to the fields of cost engineering, project controls, planning and scheduling, and estimating.
The CSRA Section was also pleased to award three $500.00 college scholarships for the fall of 2007. Scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities, and an essay on why cost management or total cost management will be important in pursuing their career goals.
Central Savannah River Area section participated in College Night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. Shown above from the left are Section representatives Myron Berry, Asoka Pillai, CCE PVP, and Kathlene Bell, EVP. The Section sponsored a booth and awarded scholarships.
Chinook Calgary Section
About 50 Chinook-Calgary members and guests were greeted by President Mahendra Bhatia at the Nov. 14 dinner meeting at the Riverview room of the International hotel in downtown Calgary.
Mr. Bhatia asked Cindy Strickland to introduce Ray Kavanagh of Hatch Energy, the evening's speaker on wind power engineering. Mr. Kavanagh indicated that the following wind power projects have been or are being completed by Hatch Energy in Alberta and British Columbia - Suncor Magrath, Suncor Chin Chute, Creststreet Kettles Hills,...
