A 39-year-old woman developed acetazolamide Intoxication after ingesting an acetazolamide overdose in a suicide attempt, and died.
The woman presented with drowsiness, bradycardia and hypotension. ECG revealed complete atrioventricular block. Arterial blood gas analysis revealed a pH of 7.119, a lactate level of 12.8 mmol/L and a bicarbonate level of 6.9 mmol/L; her pO2 was 95mm Hg and her pCO2 was 1 4mm Hg.
