The Acta Sanctorum database is a collection of documents detailing the lives of saints, organized by each saint's feast day. The electronic version contains the full text of the original editions of the 68 printed volumes of Acta Sanctorum, published in Antwerp and Brussels between 1643 and 1940. It also includes the indices and references to Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina (BHL). The database enables direct access to the texts via links from the corresponding BHL number references, which one can select individually or in a range.
As in the printed edition of the Acta Sanctorum, entries are arranged by volume. These follow the liturgical calendar, in effect between the Council of Trent and the Second Vatican Council. Entries are then divided into documents, which are further broken down into sub-divisions. One navigates the table of contents by expanding and collapsing the branches of the hierarchy. Each...
