Abstract

Agid et al comment on adverse reactions to levodopa, which is a primary treatment for Parkinson's disease. Two types of problems emerge after taking levodopa for awhile: disabling motor effects that require adjustment of dosage following several years of treatment and a decline in the response of some symptoms to levodopa in people with advanced Parkinson's disease.
