Abstract
The Action Programme of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSC ) released on April 5th 1968 was supposed to be an ideological support for the behavior of the members of KSC during the so-called Prague Spring. The Action Programme was also one of the most important results of the 1968 events in Czechoslovakia; it was meant to be a representation of "democratic" changes in Central Europe which was one of the places partaking in a "global revolutionary movement in 1968". However, each country proceeded based on different traditions, which is why the individual events significantly differed. The military invasion by the members of the Warsaw Pact in August 1968 only strengthened the "positive" perception of the Prague Spring, which was seen as an example of trying to find an individual, Czechoslovak approach to socialism, democracy, and prosperity. It was the Action Programme that showed how this perception was mostly misleading since it did not reflect KS trying to implement any reforms but was rather a result of faction conflicts within the party. Moreover, its content did not meet the expectation of the Czechoslovak society at all, which reflected in its tentative acceptance by the public. The Action Programme of the KS proved that Communists, even in 1968, strived to keep their power and did not try to implement any major reforms.
