In a retrospective study involving 27 pregnant women with hydatid disease (HD), 5 women· aged 24-41 years were described, who experienced spontaneous or therapeutic abortions following treatment with albendazole during the first trimester of pregnancy, which is not recommended for use during the first trimester of pregnancy [time to reactions onset, dosages, routes and outcomes not stated].
Case 7: A 41-year-old woman was diagnosed with HD involving liver and spleen. Consequently, she underwent surgery and received treatment with albendazole. She was unaware of being pregnant at the start of albendazole treatment, and thus received the treatment during the first trimester.
