OUR FAMILY loves English bulldogs. Land was a senior in high school when we got one, and that was our family's first introduction to the breed. Boy howdy, after that, we were all in love with them. Now mankind has bred every bit of common sense right out of that dog. It has a short nose, not any kind of breathing passage, skin allergies, eye problems-you get the picture, right? But none of that make any difference to any of us. We loved the dog. They are the sweetest dogs you have ever been around.
When Land left home to go to A&M, the kids got a female bulldog for us. After all, I was having a very hard time with the whole empty nest thing. In fact, 1 was a real baby about it Bob went right on with his daily life, wondering what would be for supper. Me-well, everything set me off on a crying binge. Thus, the kids found this female in Houston. Perhaps this would take the place of having kids at home. I must say, she-we named her Baloola- was a dandy.
