A 32-year-old man developed comatose, hypotension, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, QT-interval prolongation, rhabdomyolysis, renal failure and right sided paresis of peroneal nerve following intoxication with quetiapine and alprazolam overdose in a suicide attempt.
The man ingested quetiapine 24g (60 tablets of 400mg XR) and alprazolam 5mg (10 tablets of 0.5mg) in a suicide attempt due to marital issues. Fifteen hours later, the emergency medical service found the him after ingestion comatose with response only to deep painful stimuli and a glasgow coma score (GCS) score of 6.
