A 9-year-old boy developed anaphylaxis during treatment with aminophylline.
The boy, who had a 12 hours history of shortness of breath, non-productive cough and central chest pain, was admitted to a paediatric hospital. His history included group B streptococcus sepsis during the neonatal period. Recently, his epigastric pain was treated with omeprazole. His symptoms developed on the night prior when he was playing outside with friends at a building site, where bonfire materials were being collected.
