The recently announced discovery of a second setting of Dixit Dominus (Psalm 109; 110 NIV) by Antonio Vivaldi is exciting for lovers of Baroque choral music. This work, previously misattributed to Baldassare Galuppi (1706-85), was found in a Dresden library by Australian musicologist Janice Stockigt in May 2005.
Stockigt came upon this setting of Dixit Dominus while surveying church music at the Sächsische Landes-und Universitätsbibliothek. She recognized the handwriting on the title page as that of Iseppo Baldan, a copyist for whom two of Vivaldi's nephews...
