Introduction
Concrete had been widely used in road pavement field due to the advantages of good plasticity, high compressive strength, wide raw material source and low cost. Because the major failure mode of road concrete was shear failure, the main technical requirements of road concrete were high flexural strength and fatigue durability However, the properties of high compressive strength and low tensile strength of normal concrete could not meet the requirements of road pavement concrete. Existing researches indicated that glass fiber, with the advantages of high tensile, high elastic modulus, no combustion and low cost, can significantly improve the deformability, toughness and impact resistance of cement-based materials mixed into the cement-based materials in a chopped way. Fibers mixed into concrete could block the expansion of micro cracks and delay the development of new cracks in the matrix, and greatly increase flexural strength and wearing resistance of concrete. Therefore, adding glass fiber into concrete could well resolve the above problems and become an important way to improve flexural strength as well as pavement service performance. Luigi Fenu [1] studied the dynamic behavior of cement mortars reinforced with both glass and basalt fibers. Ali Ates [2] found that the performance effect of glass fiber was good through the three point bending test in glass fiber, carbon fiber and polyethylene fiber reinforced concrete specimens. Hamoon Fathi [3] proposed that glass fiber was added to the concrete so as to improve its behavior at different percentages. As a new kind of artificial inorganic material, glass fiber had the properties of wide raw material sources, convenient mass production as well as low weight, heat and sound insulation [4,5]. Therefore, glass fiber had shown a prefect application future as the concrete admixture replacing other fiber.
For the glass fiber composite cement matrix, in the process of cement hydration the alkali-resistant glass fiber had the potential of corrosion in the alkaline environment formed, which will directly affect the long-term performance and strength stability of the composites. The durability limitation of glass fiber cement was one of the main reasons that it could not be used in a wider range. Researchers from all over the world have been devoted to the study of the long-term performance decline mechanism and the durability improvement...
