Abstract
According to the concept of three-dimensional design and landscape function, this paper used TD (Total Design) to analyze ecological engineering method in urban riverfront landscape projects, by taking landscapes of Chuhe River in Liuhe District, Nanjing City for example.
Keywords Landscape design, TD (Total Design), Riverfront landscape, Chuhe River
Urban riverfront landscapes always reflect the unique image of a city. Waterfront landscapes among all landscape types are the most attractive one. "The wise delights in water, and the benevolent delights in mountain" is the best proof of ancient Chinese's love for waterfront landscapes. Planning and landscape design of urban waterfront regions has been a hot research topic in recent years, and the most important feature of waterfront region design is that it is a complicate project concerning various fields'1"2'.
1 General situation of the project
Chuhe River, also known as Tushui before the Tang Dynasty, is a major branch by the north bank in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The main stream is 269 km, 116 km in Nanjing City, the valley covers 8,015 km2, 1,750 km2 in Nanjing City. The riverfront belt is one of the regions witnessing the most intensive interaction between human activities and natural process in the city, its design concerns various fields'3'. Rivers and waterfront areas have multiple functions in natural systems and social systems of the city, such as water conservancy, traffic, sightseeing, city image, and ecological functions. In view of this, riverfront design concerns shipping, river control, water resource reserve and supply, flood regulation and drainage, protection of vegetation and animal habitat, water quality, energy, city security, architectural and urban design'41. Waterfront landscape design of the Chuhe River covers water system, traffic, embankment, pollution control, land development and utilization, city construction, and environmental landscape, aims at building "the river of ecology, humanity and vitality".
2 Problems in landscape design
A major objective of waterfront landscape design is to satisfy people's needs for getting close to water, which is also the core concern of TD. Environmental landscape design as a systematic work needs considerable investment, integrated planning and outstanding characteristics. The project is classified into 12 sections, including both banks of Babai River (1,400 m) and Zhaobing River (740 m). Among the 12 sections,...
