Christopher Bigsby is probably the most widely respected critic of American drama today. He is the co-editor of the Cambridge History of American Theatre (3 vols., 1998-2006), and his prolific critical works span rhe arc of modern American drama from Susan Glaspell and Eugene O'Neill to Tony Kushner and Neil LaBute. Bigsby is most closely associated with Arthur Miller, with whom he had a close working relationship and friendship for more than twenty years.
