THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR PHYSIcian Leadership® announced new fellows at the Annual Meeting April 15 in Washington, D.C. These physicians meet the newest criteria approved by the board of directors in 2015 for its leadership ranks. They are:
NASIMUL AHSAN, MD, MBA, CPE, FACHE, FAAPL, FACP, FASN, is the chief of medical services of Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Michigan, and adjunct professor of medicine, University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, Florida. He leads the department and is responsible for the assessment of the health delivery system, as well as developing a plan for delivery of services to patients consistent with the policies and guidelines of the Veterans Health Administration. He received his medical degree from Chittagong Medical College, Chittagong, Bangladesh, and MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
MOUNIR "MARK" BANOUB, MD, CPE, FAPPL, practices in pediatric and cardiac anesthesia at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and is director of pediatric anesthesia. He established a new pediatric cardiac surgery and interventional cath-lab service and served as a physician champion for EMR implementation and optimization. Banoub earned his medical degree from the University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria, Egypt, and is a 2016 MBA candidate at the University of Massachusetts.
MARILU BINTZ, MD, FACS, MBA, FAAPL, i s a general surgeon and senior vice president of population health and strategy for Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Bintz earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and her master's degree in business administration and health care management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
