Abstract

Herein, we report a case of a 67-year-old man with hereditary hemochromatosis and a history of poliomyelitis that had caused a paresis of the right arm. Hemochromatosis-associated arthropathy developed in all but the paretic limb. X-ray and MRI revealed degenerative, massive inflammatory and destructive changes in the joints of the non-paretic hand only. These findings argue for the contribution of physical exposure and non-mechanical factors to the development of the hemochromatosis arthropathy.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
