The latest in a string of impressive Australian films, this rural family drama is written and directed by the multi-talented Rachel Ward. Her screenplay is based on the novel by Newton Thornburg, effectively relocated from America to the Australian outback.
Beautiful Kate stars Ben Mendelsohn as Ned Kendall, returning to the isolated outback property where he grew up. Although he has not been home for more than 20 years, his younger sister, Sally (Rachel Griffiths), has alerted him that their father is dying.
