Professor Rakesh Kumar is in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George Washington University. Prof. Kumar received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi in 1984. After spending a year at the same institution, he moved to New York City in January 1986 as a postdoctoral fellow in the Molecular Biology Program at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Upon completing his fellowship, he was named an assistant and associate lab member at the Sloan-Kettering Institute. In 1992, he went to the Penn State University College of Medicine as an associate professor of Medicine and Cellular and Molecular Physiology.
