The reprinting of Captain Littauer's memoirs of his life in the tsarist cavalry is cause for celebration. The book was first published in Britain in 1965. This American reissue includes a new introduction by Dennis E. Showalter. The book's publication makes one of the most lucidly written and informative memoirs to come out of the Imperial Russian army readily available to a new generation of readers.
