Described as a "comprehensive genealogical guide to the history of Britain's titled and landed families," the online Burke's Peerage and Gentry provides electronic access to three long-time staples of the reference shelf. Included here are searchable, browsable versions of the 106th edition of Burke's Peerage and Baronetage ($395 in print, published 1999), the 19th edition of Burke's Landed Gentry - The Kingdom in Scotland ($430 in print; published 2001 and updated continuously online), and the 18th edition of Burke's Landed Gentry (England and Wales; out of print, published 1972).
Due to the immense amount of knowledge contained in these volumes, not to mention the sheer size and weight of their print counterparts, transferring their content to the Web was a wise move. In addition to these resources, subscribers also have access to ATAVUS, a quarterly e-magazine with articles on relevant topics in royal and noble genealogy, family history, and British history and culture.
The database has separate gateways for Burke's Peerage...
