RATIONALE: Cytokines have important roles in control and regulation of the immune system and many signal through the JAK-STAT pathway, including IL-4 and IL-13.
AZD0449, an inhibitor of JAK1 signaling is known to inhibit both IL-4/IL-13 signaling and to inhibit in vitro differentiation of Th2 type cells in the mouse. In vivo it has been shown to prevent airway eosionphilia and Th2 cytokine production in ovalbumin sensitized and challenged mice.
