Histoplasmosis is typically a self-limited fungal infection acquired by inhalation of Histoplasma capsulata spores that reside in soil and are endemic in the United States. Severe disseminated, multi-organ disease can be seen in immunocompromised patients and cases of endocarditis and pericarditis are well described. We report a unique case of myocarditis secondary to disseminated histoplasmosis in an immunocompetent, previously healthy pediatric patient presenting with acute multi-organ failure.
