Behavioural changes while receiving long-term, high-dose cabergoline prompted a 61-year-old man to seek help. He had been diagnosed with a prolactinoma 18 years earlier and had initially been prescribed bromocriptine for visual field changes, without benefit. His symptoms improved after a switch to cabergoline [route not stated]; symptomatic improvement was achieved with 1 g/day. Subsequently, he noted compulsive hypersexual behaviour [time to reaction onset not stated], which persisted even after decreasing his cabergoline dosage to 0.5 mg/day. Six weeks after discontinuing cabergoline, he reported a marked improvement in his hypersexual behaviour. His prolactin levels remained low, his visual fields were normal and MRI results showed no change in tumour size compared with an MRI conducted 1 year earlier.
