A 36-year-old woman developed fixed drug eruptions induced by thiodiglycolic acid during treatment with carbocisteine [S-Carboxymethyl-L-Cysteine: Mucodyne]. Thiodiglycolic acid (TDA) is a carbocisteine metabolite.
The woman presented to the hospital with a complaint of erythema accompanied by painful itching and pigmentation around the lips, neck, back and limbs in January 2012. Her medical history revealed that she had received oral carbocisteine for 4 days in January 2012 [dosage and indication not stated].
