Four patients aged 47-77 years including two women [exact ages not stated] developed either myelosuppression and sepsis, neutropenia, or systemic inflammatory response syndrome during treatment with carboplatin and paclitaxel for either ovarian or peritoneal cancer [times to reaction onset and sex for the remaining patients not stated]; all patients died within 30 days of chemotherapy ending. The patients had underlying conditions, including bowel obstruction, pleural and peritoneal effusion, respiratory distress and pulmonary embolism, which accounted for their poor performance status.
