"Not-for-profit, not-for-me" - that's how the founder of one FTSE company summed up his view on hiring women from the voluntary sector. His comments came to light during a breakfast briefing where Cass Business School presented the initial findings of its research on the lack of female third sector leaders on corporate boards.
Understanding top roles in the voluntary sector
Outstanding Women Leaders and Private Sector Boards is a two-year project following seven female chief executives from the voluntary sector as they consider options to move into corporate boardrooms as non-executives. It is being run by Cass's Centre for Charity Effectiveness, together with the National Council for Voluntary Organizations (NCVO) and supported by Newton Investment Management.
